Nepali people may have shown some resentment towards Bollywood on and off but they have also shown their love for Hindi films many times.

Now they are honoring Bollywood yet again by naming Hema Malini's famous character from 'Sholay'- Basanti.

They have come up with a locally made three-wheeled vehicle and have named it Basanti.

It has been made from the discarded motorcycle parts from the scrap heaps. It has found many takers as travelling in it is much cheaper when compared to cycle rickshaws.

It's being said that the people responsible came up with the name while talking one day about the maega hit 'Sholay' and the horse cart driven by Hema Malin's character.

The basanti vehicle running on petrol has been introduced in a district named Sunsari situated at the Terai plains in the India-Nepal border. As of now 16 vehicles are ready to undertake trips between Inaruwa town in the Sunsari district and Bhandabari village.

Hema sure must be elated with this rare honor!
